CELPIP

The Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP) is a language proficiency test that is conducted at more than 60 locations at present. This test is accepted by many universities, colleges, and employers in Canada.

Mode of Exam

There are two modes in the CELPIP exam: CELPIP- General Test & CELPIP General LS Test

CELPIP- General Test (for permanent resident status in Canada)

In this category, there are four sections (Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking) to assess your English language skills.

This test is accepted by IRCC for permanent resident status in Canada, The Real Estate Council of British Columbia, and Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.

CELPIP- General LS test (for Canadian citizenship)

In this category, there are two sections (Listening and Speaking) to assess your English language skills.

This test is accepted by IRCC for Canadian citizenship.

Please note that this test is valid for those applicants who are applying for Canadian citizenship. If you’re applying for PR status, then you have to appear in the CELPIP General test.

Important: CELPIP is a computer-based test that assesses your English language efficiency in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.

CELPIP Registration

Before getting started for your Test registration, ensure that you have your acceptable identity document and an accepted form of payment on hand, as they are required to complete the registration.

ID Proof

After registration for your exam, you will receive a test confirmation email. It’s advisable to go through with the information listed about the exam and test center.

Important: You must bring original and valid identification that you used for registration.

Acceptable identification for the CELPIP-General Test:

  • Passport booklet
  • United States Passport Card
  • Refugee protection claimant document*
  • Travel document*

Acceptable identification for the CELPIP-General LS Test:

CELPIP Scoring

The best part of the CELPIP test is the computer automatically scores the Listening and Reading Tests. However, the responses to the Writing and Speaking tests are scored by trained and experienced examiners.

Attempt

In order to reappear in the exam, there should be a gap of 30 calendar days.

If your registrations violate this rule, then this will be subject to cancellation by Paragon. However, you can give this test as many times as you want as there is no restriction in re- attempting for CELPIP.

Exam Results

You can see your scores in your CELPIP Account in 8 business days after your test date. For test takers that order Express Rating, you can see their results in 3 business days after your test date.

Two print copies of your CELPIP score report will be mailed to your registered address via Canada Post. However additional copies of your test result will be available only for those tests that have been taken within the last 2 years.

Score Validity

Your Test scores can be accessed and viewed online in your CELPIP Account for a period of 2 years.
