Who needs to give their Biometrics

You need to give biometrics If you apply for:

• Visitor Visa
• Study Visa
• Work Visa
• Permanent Residence
• Refugee or Asylum

How long Biometrics are valid

If you’re applying for Visitor Visa, Study Visa, and Work permit, then you only need to give your biometrics once every 10 years, which means you don’t need to give biometrics again until 10 year period expires.

Permanent residence applicants need to give their biometrics each time when they apply. However it doesn’t matter how long it’s been when you applied last time, you have to give your biometrics and pay the fee each time when you apply.

Where I have to pay Biometric Fee

You can pay your biometric fee here on this portal. You have to select Temporary Residence if you’re applying for a Visitor, Worker, and Student visa.

After selecting temporary residence click continue then make a selection. If you are a single applicant then enter 1 for per person and if you’re applying along with your family then enter 2 or more. However, the third category is for a group of artists.

Exemptions

The following applicants are biometric exempt as they don’t need to give their biometrics:

• Children under the age of 14.
• Permanent Resident
• Canadian Citizen/ Citizenship applicants
• Applicants over the age of 79
• Head of Government
• Head of State
• US visa holder who are transiting through Canada
• Applicants who qualify for or hold a diplomatic visa
