Mode of Exam
There are two modes in the IELTS exam: IELTS Academic & IELTS General
IELTS Academic: This exam is valid for people applying for higher education or professional registration in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the USA
IELTS General Training: This exam is valid for those who want to migrate to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK. This exam is best for those who are going to English speaking countries for secondary education, work experience, or training programs.
Paper vs Computer
Paper-based:In this test, you will get a question paper and answer sheets for the Reading, Listening, and Writing tests. You have to use either pen or HB-pencils to give answers. The Speaking test is carried out face-to-face with a trained IELTS examiner.
Computer-based: This test requires you to complete your Reading, Listening, and Writing tasks in front of a computer with the questions presented on the screen. However, the Speaking test is not a computer-based as this will be carried out face-to-face with a trained IELTS examiner.
Important: Every organization, College/ or University has different requirements for IELTS. It’s highly recommended to go through with the individual’s requirement before proceeding for this exam.
IELTS Exam Pattern: In both, the exam (Academic & General) Listening and Speaking are the same. However, the Reading and Writing sections will differ from each other.

IELTS Speaking: is always on a separate day, it can not be on the same day with other tasks (Reading, Listening, and Writing). It can be two days before or two days after.

Fee & Registration

During registration of the IELTS exam, you will see the computer screen icon in front of locations. These will be the location where you can give IELTS on a computer, If there is no icon listed in front of the location then you’re not eligible to apply for computed based IELTS exam.
ID Proof
You must have a valid ID proof with you which must be:
- an original document
- be valid, expired documents are not acceptable
- be a government-issued card
- include your full name and Photograph which must match the name on the ID card you have used to register this exam

Also, IELTS is not recommended for applicants under 16 years of age. You must be 16 above to appear in this exam.
IELTS Scoring

Attempts
You can give this test as many times as you want as there is no restriction in reappearing in IELTS.
Exam Result
You can check your IELTS results in 13 days, If it’s (paper-based) and in 5 to 7 days, If it’s (computer-based)
Test centers post results to 13 days (paper-based) or 5-7 days (computer-delivered) after the test or you can pick up in person.
You have the option to transfer your results directly to five nominated organizations, including universities or immigration bodies.
Score Validity
IELTS scores are valid for 2 years.
