About TOEFL

Mode of Exam
There are two modes for this test, TOEFL PBT & TOEFL iBT. The paper test is currently offered only in areas where testing via the internet is not available. However, more than 98% of people take the TOEFL iBT which is the internet-based test which consists of four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing).
During the TOEFL iBT test, you will be assessed based on the tasks below:
- Read, listen and then speak in response to a question
- Listen and then speak in response to a question
- Read, listen and then write in response to a question

TOEFL Registration
You can register for this test 24 x 7, though registration close 7 days before your exam date. Its good to book your slot well in advance to avoid the last-minute rush.
Late registration closes 4 days before your exam date and has a late fee of US$40.

ID Proof
Your ID must meet all of the following requirements. ID document must be:
- an original
- valid, expired documents are not acceptable
- a government-issued card
- include your full name and Photograph which must match the name on the ID card you have used to register this exam
- include your signature (the name on the ID and the signature name must match)
If the test taker age is 15 or younger, then it’s advisable for the test taker to be accompanied by a parent or other authorized adult whose age should be 18 or older, who will be required to complete and sign a release form at the test center.
You and the parent or authorized person must present valid, acceptable ID, or you will not be able to take the test.

TOEFL Scoring
There are four sections under this exam and each section for this exam consists of 30 marks each which is 120 marks in total.

Attempt
You can take this test as many times as you want, though to take a re-test you have to wait for a 12-day period from the last test date.
Exam Result
You can access your TOEFL scores via an online account 10 days after your test date. However, for a hard copy, it takes around 13 days for outside US recipients.
Score Validity
TOEFL scores are valid for 2 years.
