Police Clearance Certificate for Canada PR

After receiving an ITA from IRCC, You have to obtain and submit your police clearance certificate. This certificate is imperative to file the visa application.

The Canadian government uses this certificate to find out whether you have a criminal record or not. This certificate includes a copy or statement of your records that you do not have a criminal record.

If your certificate is in a different language other than English or French, You have to submit your police clearance certificate with a translation from a certified translator.

  • If you have stayed in any country during the last 10 years for 6 months or more

Indian Applicants can obtain their PCC by logging into Passport Seva. You have to click on (New User? Register Now) See Below:

After generating login credentials, you have to go to (Online Services) and there you have to click on Police Clearance Certificate:

Once you clicked on Police Clearance Certificate, you will get below screen where you have to submit your online application as per instruction:

There will be an option to pay an online fee so you have to be ready with your credit/debit card (Visa/MasterCard) and internet banking details beforehand.

You have to take the printout of your application as there will be an Application Reference Number (ARN) or Appointment number.

On the day of your appointment, you must carry:

  • Photocopies of your passport
  • Photocopies of your ITA letter
  • You can get a declaration form from passport Seva Kendra for PCC, which you can fill on the spot.
  • You can carry other documents as well which can be required to support your application.

After reaching the passport office, you have to submit your documents at the counter for verification and then move to another area for fingerprints.

In case you have recently had a police verification at your current address within the last one year, then the passport officer will process your PCC on the spot and give it to you the same day.

Though if there is no verification done at your current address in one year, then they will mark your application as pending for police verification.

Now, you will receive an acknowledgment slip, which you must keep safe as during police verification at your address you have to provide this slip to the policemen.

Police will initiate their internal checks for your background verification and will check whether you have ever been convicted in any crime or not.

Post completion of your background checks if they find everything is good and you have not been indulged in any crime, then they will send your details to passport Seva Kendra.

After that, you will be notified by passport Seva Kendra by SMS (If you have subscribed for SMS service) that your police verification has been cleared and you can collect your document from PSK.

Now you don’t need to book an appointment as you can directly go there and collect your PCC, though it is advisable to go there along with your original documents and acknowledgment slip for collecting your PCC.
